A new era

Today I sent all of my children off to school.  Even my little baby Ezra.  Our family has changed a lot in the last few years (as families tend to do).  Here's the family on the day Ezra was born.

Here's my big school boy now.

And all of my children in their nice bright uniforms ready to start a new school year.

As for me, even with five childless days, I'm still not sure I'll be able to fit in all the things I want to get done.

Australia Day

Today we had an Australia Day BBQ for all those who live on campus at our college.  After our BBQ we had a waterslide.  I just saw on the news that today was the hottest Australia Day in Sydney in 20 years, so it seems like a waterslide was a good idea.

Walking the bridge

Today we walked over the Sydney Harbour Bridge with some friends.  It was interesting and fun but it also taught me that next time I should take more drinks, especially if it's a hot day.
The Opera House and one of Sydney's ferries

A strange thing we saw near the Opera House, but we couldn't figure out what it was.
Simon and Ezra on the Bridge
Water fun after a picnic.
After our walk we had a picnic lunch and then the kids played in the water feature and got soaked.  Apart from the headache I had afterwards, it was a fantastic day.

Summer rain

Inspired by my Sister-in-law's recent blog post I have been looking through some old photo's of my own.  In March 2008 our family walked across the dry bed of Lake Wendouree in Ballarat.

Many 'experts' were predicting the lake may never be filled again.  We visited it a few weeks ago when we were in Ballarat.  This is what it looks like now.

The second picture is taken from the shore which is visible in the background of the first one.  The swans which can just be seen in the second picture (far out in the water in the middle) are about where we were standing in the first one.  It was beautiful to see the lake full again.  The birds have returned and there were babies everywhere.  Even the paddle boat man has returned, but I didn't get a photo of him.

Making things...

 I've been busy making things.
